The State

Shaped like a perfect rectangle and located in the western half of the United States, the state of Wyoming is one of the most populous states in the country. The state is bordered on the east by Nebraska and South Dakota, on the south by Utah and Colorado, and on the north by Montana. The state shares borders with Montana and Idaho.

The name of the state was derived from a Native American word which means ‘in the vast plains’ and it was adopted in 1865. Although of immense physical size, Wyoming is one of the least populous states in the country –with a population that is just a little above half a million, the state is actually the least populated in the United States. The state was admitted into the Union in 1890 as the 44th state.

Owing to the presence of vast mineral resources, the state has always been an important mining center. Likewise many of the other states, agriculture is also an important economic. The largest city is Cheyenne and is the capital. When compared to other cities like Chicago, Los Angeles and New York, Cheyenne looks like a small town.

The State

The state is overwhelmingly populated by the Whites who make up more than 95% of the population and many of them have English, Scandinavian, Irish and German ancestries. Other Wyomingites (as residents are called) are Blacks (African Americans), Asians, American Indians, Native Hawaiians and other Pacific Islanders. In terms of religion, almost 80% of the people are Christians with the largest adherents being Protestants (Lutherans, Presbyterians, Methodists and Baptists), Roman Catholics and Mormons.

Eating in Wyoming

In addition to housing the picturesque Yellowstone National Park, the state of Wyoming also offers a culinary haven. I indulged in as many delectable meals as possible during my time there. If you have a penchant for steak, Wyoming is sure to capture your culinary affection. The state boasts numerous steakhouses where you can savor beef, venison, or even bison. In my view, actively participating in the cooking and preparation of the food enhances the dining experience in Wyoming, as there is a distinct aura in relishing the flavors of a meal you have prepared yourself.

Drinking in Wyoming

As the least populated state in the country, Wyoming doesn’t feature the glittering bars and pubs reminiscent of Las Vegas in many parts. However, this does not imply that you cannot enjoy your favorite beer or wine. In the capital city of Wyoming, various restaurants, inns, and hotels offer opportunities to purchase your preferred drink. The state is home to wineries, providing an opportunity for those interested to sample quality Wyoming wines while visiting. Soft drinks are also readily available.

Sports in Wyoming

Staying in Wyoming means that you can enjoy the finest games of soccer, golf, basketball, baseball, swimming and many more. But the sporting activities are definitely not limited to these.
